Mothers Day Cards

by Ruth Morgan | February 29, 2016 | Posted in Lutradur

A Mothers Day card for the ‘Best Mum in the World’ using Lutradur There’s still time to make a lovely personalised card to give to your mum this Mothering Sunday, using Lutradur 100,  a few strands of ribbon and some paint! Here’s how to make this card – Use your computer to write your sentiment and your (ink jet) printer, to produce your message on to a piece of A4 Lutradur 100. (Remember to use the bold setting for maximum impact and clearer results) Cover the front of a blank DL card, leaving a narrow border. Hand cut a vase […]

Evolon Embellished Draught Excluder

by Ruth Morgan | February 4, 2016 | Posted in Evolon

‘Home is where the Heart is’ – Draught Excluder Love maybe in the air this February . . . but no-one likes a draught! The recent windy weather (and the cool breeze around my feet!) prompted me to make this colourful draught excluder using a remnant of blue cloth. The letters and hearts are cut from a piece of Evolon, and then coloured using transfer paints. Evolon is ideal for this sort of decoration as it does not tear or fray, which makes it really quick and easy to work with. To make the lettering, simply print the words from your computer. (I […]

Evolon Snowmen

by Ruth Morgan | November 24, 2015 | Posted in Evolon

How to Make Snowmen using Evolon These little snowmen are fun, inexpensive and simple to make and can be illuminated with LED tea lights for an extra touch of Christmas magic. Easy enough for the kids to make, as there is no sewing involved, and can be decorated and painted in all sorts of ways. Evolon is ideal for this project as it is a white flexible fabric, yet strong enough to support itself and has the added bonus of allowing light to pass through (if you want to place them over an LED tea light).   Here’s what you will […]

Lutradur – Halloween Bats

by Ruth Morgan | October 13, 2015 | Posted in Evolon, Lutradur

How to Make Bats from Lutradur Black For this year’s Halloween, I decided to make some bats to decorate our home. I chose Lutradur Black for this project as it’s lightweight, semi transparent (rather like the wings of a real bat) and it does not tear or fray, plus it holds its shape beautifully. Each bat is made from a double layer of Lutradur Black, stitched across the top, with extra stitching to represent the spines of the wings; then two small oval pieces of material (either Lutradur Black or painted Evolon) one for the top and one for the underside to form the […]

How to use Zeelon to make Lavender Sachets

by Ruth Morgan | September 17, 2015 | Posted in Zeelon

Zeelon Light – Transfer Painted Lavender Sachets I decided I would make some lavender sachets for gifts, but wanted to move away from the traditional cotton style of bags – fancying a different look. New to me was a material called Zeelon – which looked interesting. The lightest version was really strong and semi-transparent and I thought it might be novel to see the lavender through the material. There was no sewing involved, due to the simple design and the fact that Zeelon does not fray. Although only available in white, it colours very easily with transfer paints. Materials Zeelon Light Dried lavender […]

Lutradur and Zeelon Painted Windmills

by Ruth Morgan | June 18, 2015 | Posted in Lutradur, Zeelon

Windmills I’ve been trying to think of ways to distract my little grandson who is teething at the moment and came up with these colourful windmills. They make him smile when they whizz round in the breeze, but there’s still no sign of a tooth! Some of the windmills were made from the heaviest Zeelon and the rest using Lutradur 100 and it only takes an A4 sheet per windmill. First, I made a pattern and cut out the basic shapes and then used transfer paints to add a variety of colours before assembling the windmills by simply using […]

St Valentines – Crafting with Evolon and Evolon Soft

by Ruth Morgan | January 22, 2015 | Posted in Evolon

Why not add a little Extra Romance to your Valentine’s Day by making these lovely Evolon roses Evolon is ideal for crafting as it colours well, does not tear or fray and holds its shape beautifully. Our photographs show how the roses can be used, from a single symbolic stem, to a stunning centre piece or to decorate a card. How to Make the Petals Simply colour some Evolon (or Evolon Soft) with red transfer paint and then cut out a series of ‘balloon’ shapes to make the petals (i.e. a softly curved top edge, narrowing to a point at the base). We used 5 or 7 petals in gradually decreasing sizes to […]
