Lutradur

Lutradur is a non-woven polyester material.  At first glance, it looks like dressmakers interfacing, but its unique spunwoven structure makes it see through in nature.

It comes in a variety of different weights; the lighter the cloth, the easier it is to see through it.

Spunart currently supply white material in weights of 30gsm,70gsm, l00gsm, 13Ogsm and XL.  Lutradur 70gsm is the only weight that is also available in black.

It is a truly versatile material.  It doesn’t fray, has a slight sheen, is see through can be combined with all other types of material, can be painted, dyed, distressed with a soldering iron or heat gun, glued, stitched, embroidered … there are no limits to what you can do with Lutradur!

It is also suitable for paper arts, such as making books, altered books, card making, Artist’s Trading Cards (ATCs) and postcards.

How to use Lutradur to make a Gift Wrap Bow

by Ruth Morgan | March 18, 2016 | Posted in Lutradur

Transfer Coloured Lutradur – a versatile alternative to ribbon! Lutradur is perfect for gift wrapping, as it looks delicate, yet is very strong. It also holds its shape beautifully and can therefore be ‘tweaked’ to form the perfect presentation bow. These two examples were made from strips of Lutradur 30gsm, a synthetic lightweight material. Since it is only available in white, we used transfer paints to produce the exact shade required – a pretty feminine pink for the box of chocs and a gorgeous lime green for the herb planter. Of course, the Lutradur can be colour co-ordinated to suit any theme, whether it be for a wedding, christening, birthday, […]

Lutradur – Halloween Bats

by Ruth Morgan | October 13, 2015 | Posted in Evolon, Lutradur

How to Make Bats from Lutradur Black For this year’s Halloween, I decided to make some bats to decorate our home. I chose Lutradur Black for this project as it’s lightweight, semi transparent (rather like the wings of a real bat) and it does not tear or fray, plus it holds its shape beautifully. Each bat is made from a double layer of Lutradur Black, stitched across the top, with extra stitching to represent the spines of the wings; then two small oval pieces of material (either Lutradur Black or painted Evolon) one for the top and one for the underside to form the […]
