Leaves by Karen Lane – Feltmaker & Textile Artist
Now that the trees are starting to display their lovely autumn colours, we are delighted to showcase these leaves, created by Karen Lane using Lutradur 100gsm. They are so exquisitely made, it is hard to believe they are not real! Karen says “I’ve become addicted to making these Lutradur leaves. ‘Terra Incognita’ by Penny Burnfield
This very large and rather magnificent piece has been created by Penny Burnfield and is currently on display at the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) until 9th September 2018, as part of the 62 Group Exhibition ‘Ctrl/Shift’. The title ‘Terra Incognita’ refers to unknown mountains/territory, but also to the challenge of working with unfamiliar materials and processes, which was part of the brief for this exhibition. A Walk in the Forest by Karen Lane
We are delighted to showcase this beautiful piece designed and made by Karen Lane, Feltmaker and Textile Artist. The close-up photograph helps to show the exquisite attention to detail Karen has achieved on the ferns and tree trunks. We are delighted to share some more examples of work by Textile Artist, Sian Kibblewhite. Sian has been involved in textiles for over 30 years, both as a Middle School Teacher and also a Textile Artist in her own right. She specialises in mixed media landscapes using a variety of techniques and is a regular contributor to our website. Car Cleaning Mit made from Evolon Soft
We’re hoping this gift idea will appeal to the man who likes to keep his car looking pristine! Our over-sized mit is made of Evolon Soft, an absorbent lint-free material, which is ideal for cleaning and polishing. We’ve made this one in our guy’s favourite football team colours and added his initials in a number plate style font for a personalised touch. To make – Simply colour some Evolon Soft using transfer paint and cut out four mitten shaped pieces (two left and two right). Let’s Go Fly a Kite! As Fathers’ Day is just around the corner, this is one project for all the family, no matter what their age or ability. With elements of measuring, design and painting, everyone can contribute to the construction, not to mention mastering the best flying technique! The Royal Wedding and Evolon – a Perfect Match!
It’s The BIG DAY this Saturday and everyone can join in with the celebrations. Here at Spunart we’re putting the flags out with some eye-catching bunting made from Evolon. As Evolon is white, we only had to colour the blue and red triangles, before sewing them on to a string of blue ribbon. As Evolon does not fray, the individual pieces keep their neat and tidy appearance, with no loose threads to worry about or spoil the effect. We hope Harry and Meghan enjoy their wedding day and wish them every future happiness.
Lutradur Landscapes by Sian Kibblewhite
We have previously showcased textile art by Sian Kibblewhite and are now delighted to bring you two more examples of her work. Sian has created these images with layers of Lutradur and machine embroidery to create beautiful atmospheric scenes. In her own words Sian describes how she creates her pictures – ‘I usually spray the Lutradur with a watered down acrylic paint to get various effects as the paint dribbles down the fabric. By spraying you can achieve various intensities of colour and blend shades together, which is excellent for landscapes.
