Lutradur is a non-woven polyester material.  At first glance, it looks like dressmakers interfacing, but its unique spunwoven structure makes it see through in nature.

It comes in a variety of different weights; the lighter the cloth, the easier it is to see through it.

Spunart currently supply white material in weights of 30gsm,70gsm, l00gsm, 13Ogsm and XL.  Lutradur 70gsm is the only weight that is also available in black.

It is a truly versatile material.  It doesn’t fray, has a slight sheen, is see through can be combined with all other types of material, can be painted, dyed, distressed with a soldering iron or heat gun, glued, stitched, embroidered … there are no limits to what you can do with Lutradur!

It is also suitable for paper arts, such as making books, altered books, card making, Artist’s Trading Cards (ATCs) and postcards.

We have previously showcased textile art by Sian Kibblewhite and are now delighted to bring you two more examples of her work. Sian has created these images with layers of Lutradur and machine embroidery to create beautiful atmospheric scenes. Sian is an accomplished textile artist, who specialises in fabric landscapes and takes her inspiration from natural colours and textures. Mothers’ Day Cards using Lutradur

There’s still time to make a lovely personalised card for your Mum . . . Lutradur is ideal for card making as it can be painted, stitched, dyed and also printed. Our cards have been decorated with heart shapes cut out of Lutradur 70 and Lutradur 100. Pink acrylic paint was used to colour the Lutradur 70, while all the words and messages have been printed on to Lutradur 100 (which is slightly thicker) using an ink jet printer. So why not show your Mum just how creative you can be!    

Beach Bag stiffened with Lutradur XL

Lutradur Pumpkins with Evolon Stalks

  Why not add a touch of atmosphere to your Halloween celebrations this year with these pumpkins made out of Lutradur and Evolon? We used a set of battery operated fairy lights to illuminate our display (£2.50 from Wilkinsons including batteries) and we hope you like the effect as much as we do. Just imagine how attractive they would look softly glowing in a hall window on a dark and spooky October evening . . . Pen Pot or Paintbrush holder – using Lutradur

Now that the children are back at school, why not try decorating a useful pen pot for them? First find a box of crisps (we didn’t have any trouble emptying ours!) and cut a piece of Lutradur 70gsm the same height as the box and long enough to fit all the way round. Then colour the Lutradur using transfer or acrylic paint, before decorating.
