These little Christmas trees are easy and fun to make out of Lutradur. They can be painted and decorated with stick on gems, threaded beads, coloured wire, glitter glue, etc. For an extra touch of festive magic, we used battery operated tea lights to illuminate them.
These trees would make novel name place settings for the Christmas dinner table . . .
We chose Lutradur 70gsm (a medium weight Lutradur for this project) as it’s fairly stiff, yet translucent enough to allow light to pass through it.
Our own enchanted forest!
Lutradur Illuminated Christmas Trees
A pack of Lutradur 70gsm will make 20 Christmas trees!
For each tree, make a semi-circular template with a radius as wide as the fabric and make two trunks using the off cuts, ensuring they are long enough to wrap around a battery operated tea light.
Cut out all pieces and colour with acrylic paint.
To form the tree, roll the Lutradur into a conical shape and wrap the trunk around the tealight. Staple both in position.
Wind some thin wire twice around a wooden spoon handle to form a double loop. Print a festive message (we used a fancy font called Curlz MT) and place in between the wire loops.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! . . .
