These Evolon carrots are filled with dry rice, which gives them a realistic weight and knobbly feel.
Evolon is a superb material for craft projects, such as this, as it can be dyed, cut, embroidered, glued, painted and machine stitched, plus it doesn’t tear or fray!
Colour some ordinary white paper with orange and green transfer paint. When dry, turn the paper over and use a hot iron to transfer the colour on to a piece of Evolon.Make a template to cut a semicircle from the coloured area.Divide the semicircle into four equal portions , cut and machine stitch each section, right sides together.Turn the carrots out and fill with dry rice.Gather the tops with a running stitch and cover with small circles of the coloured Evolon.Complete the carrots with some hanging loops and leaves. We made ours from transfer painted Lutradur, which we threaded through a bead and secured with a blob of glue.A rustic length of cord and the carrots are ready to be hung. Now, where’s that Easter bunny?
