Zeelon Beads & Necklaces – a Gift for Mother’s Day

This week (bearing in mind it’s Mothers Day on Sunday 30th March) we’ve been making beads, by rolling up thin rectangular strips of Zeelon Medium which we had previously coloured in a variety of shades using transfer paints.
We made a large selection of plain coloured beads (approximately 3cms wide), with a view to cutting them up into smaller beads to suit a particular design or colour way.

To make bevelled beads (shown above) we cut 10 to 12 long thin triangles out of a sheet of A4 Zeelon Medium, which we coloured using yellow transfer paint, before adding red spots for decoration.
We then applied some clear drying Tacky Glue all the way along the length and then, starting at the widest end, carefully wound the Zeelon strips round the handle of a crochet hook, before leaving to dry.

Once dry, we painted the beads with Daler-Rowney Glaze Medium Gloss to give a nice lustre and threaded the beads on to a length of cord.

These straight cut Zeelon beads were decorated using the animal print design
shown on the left.
