Evolon Ghosts for Halloween

by Ruth Morgan | October 7, 2022 | Posted in Evolon

We made this decorative mobile using a couple of wire coathangers, some invisible thread and half a dozen cheeky little ghosts made from Evolon. (Evolon, is a white non woven fabric, which has a suede like texture. It is easy to cut and handles like thick paper, it also does not tear or fray – samples are available on request.) After making a cardboard template, we drew and cut two pieces of Evolon per ghost and machine stitched them together, leaving the bottom section open. A small amount of wadding was then pushed inside to give each ghost a […]

Lutradur Pumpkins for Halloween

by Ruth Morgan | October 2, 2020 | Posted in Lutradur

To make each pumpkin we coloured a piece of Lutradur 70gms with orange transfer paint and then drew a circle using a compass.   Keeping the compass at the same radius (and remembering our school geometry!) we positioned the point of the compass on the circumference and drew an arc; then repositioned the compass on the point where the arc met the edge of the circle to draw another arc and so on, until we had drawn several arcs and completed a ‘flower’ shape. After cutting out the shape, we machine stitched strips of Lutradur to the centre of each segment, to give […]

Halloween Bats made from Lutradur Black

by Ruth Morgan | September 25, 2020 | Posted in Lutradur

We made our first batch of bats in 2015 and they have proved to be one of our most popular Halloween projects. Lutradur Black was the ideal choice of material, not just because it’s the right colour, but also because it’s semi-transparent and lightweight, just like a real bat! Best of all, Lutradur does not fray or tear making it incredibly easy to cut and sew. Each bat was made from two layers of Lutradur 70gsm Black, cut from a single A4 sheet, machine stitched along the top edge, with additional machine stitching to represent the bone structure of […]

Halloween Ideas – Evolon Ghosts

by Ruth Morgan | October 18, 2018 | Posted in Evolon

Ghostly goings on . . . Here at Spunart, we’ve been busy making a mobile for Halloween using a pair of wire coat hangers for the frame. We began by designing a cardboard template and cutting out two pieces of Evolon per ghost, which we machine stitched together leaving the bottom section completely open. A small amount of wadding was then put inside each one to give them a lovely soft padded shape. We thought it would be rather fun if our ghosts glowed in the dark, so we painted them with luminous paint, before using a black biro to draw on their eyebrows and fingers. Finally, […]

Zeelon Ghosts for Halloween

by Ruth Morgan | October 31, 2017 | Posted in Zeelon

These strange ghostly apparitions were made using Zeelon Light, which was an ideal fabric for this type of project as it is so beautifully translucent and sheer. To make our ghosts, we soaked the Zeelon in a diluted solution of PVA glue and then draped strips of the fabric over empty bottles and left them to dry. (The glue allows the Zeelon to stiffen and keep its shape). We would like to wish all our customers and visitors to our website a very Happy Halloween! In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our full range of […]

Lutradur Pumpkins with Evolon Stalks

by Ruth Morgan | September 25, 2017 | Posted in Evolon, Lutradur

Why not add a touch of atmosphere to your Halloween celebrations this year with these pumpkins made out of Lutradur and Evolon? We used a set of battery operated fairy lights to illuminate our display (£2.50 from Wilkinsons including batteries) and we hope you like the effect as much as we do. Just imagine how attractive they would look softly glowing in a hall window on a dark and spooky October evening . . . To make the pumpkins we coloured some Lutradur 70gms with orange transfer paint and then drew a circle for each pumpkin using a compass.  Keeping the compass […]
